The Information Systems Study Program at Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK) continues to strengthen the connection between academic learning and professional needs through the Information Systems Concept Guest Lecture and Alumni Talks Series #8. Under the theme “Framework of Knowledge and Industry Standards,” the event featured Hendy Maulana Jaya Saputra, S.Kom., an alumnus of the Information Systems Study Program at ITK who currently works as an IT Auditor at PT Vintus Integrasi Bisnis.
The series of activities was held on September 9–10, 2026, at the JTEIB Student Activity Unit Room (B203), ITK Campus. The event began with a sharing session with the Information Systems Student Association (HMSI) on Wednesday (September 9), titled “The Role of Student Associations in Character Development for the Professional World.” During the session, Hendy shared his experiences and insights on the importance of student organizations in developing character, interpersonal skills, and readiness to enter the professional environment.
The series continued on Thursday (September 10) with a guest lecture entitled “Framework of Knowledge and Industry Standards,” moderated by Rosa Eliviani, S.Kom., M.T., a lecturer in the Information Systems Study Program at ITK. The session focused on the application of various frameworks and industry standards in information technology governance and information systems auditing.
The topic is closely aligned with the 2025–2030 Curriculum of the Information Systems Study Program at ITK, which defines three graduate profiles: Information System Engineer, IT Governance Engineer, and IT Project Manager. In particular, the IT Governance Engineer profile requires students to develop an understanding of various frameworks and standards, including COBIT, ITIL, ISO/IEC 27001, and ISO 38500.
Through the practitioner’s perspective, students were encouraged to understand that these frameworks and standards are not merely theoretical concepts studied in the classroom, but are also applied in the professional work of IT Auditors, including information systems auditing, risk assessment, IT controls, and compliance assurance. Students also gained insights into the competencies and professional certifications that can be pursued to support career development in IT Audit and IT Governance.
Through this activity, the Information Systems Study Program at ITK continues to foster collaboration with alumni and industry practitioners to provide learning experiences that are relevant to professional needs. The involvement of alumni is expected to help students develop the competencies and character needed to enter the workforce while supporting the achievement of the Information Systems Study Program’s graduate profiles.
