Description:
The Community Service Activity was held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, starting at 09:15 WITA, at the Korpri Manuntung Orphanage. This activity was organized by students from the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) Information Systems Study Program as a form of tangible contribution by students in providing benefits to the community by conducting a socialization program on “Learning Technology: Small Steps Towards a Bright Future.” This activity was carried out as part of the completion of a major assignment for the Management and Organization course. Eighteen students were involved in the implementation of this activity. The participants of the activity were children living in the orphanage, who were the main target of the community service program. The material for the activity focused on socializing technology learning, particularly related to how to use technology positively, safely, and responsibly. The children at the orphanage were given an understanding of the importance of using technology, while also being guided to avoid excessive and inappropriate use of technology. The activity was conducted interactively so that participants could actively participate during the socialization process. Through this activity, it is hoped that the children at the Korpri Manuntung Orphanage will have a broader understanding of the wise use of technology and be able to apply it in their daily lives as preparation for facing technological developments in the future.
This activity was attended by 12 foster children consisting of 7 boys and 5 girls aged 5-19 years. In order for this activity to run smoothly, the implementation team prepared laptops and projectors as a medium to actively present the material so that it could be clearly understood. During this socialization, the organizing team raised the themes of Strength in Unity and Warmth in Togetherness and also held a fun activity about their dreams, which were expressed in the form of drawings on A4 paper. After this socialization and fun activity, it was hoped that the residents of the orphanage would understand the importance of utilizing technology as it is today and making the use of technology positive, safe, and responsible for the common good of the orphanage. After the presentation of the material was completed, the implementation team took the initiative to provide ice breaking activities that could boost the participants' enthusiasm. At the end of the activity, the organizing team gave small gifts to the residents of the orphanage as a token of appreciation. Documentation of this activity can be seen in Figure 1. The expected output of this socialization activity is for the orphanage community to gain a deeper understanding of how to use technology in a positive, safe, and responsible manner that can be used for the benefit of the orphanage itself in the future.
