Description:

Saturday, November 22, 2025, 8:30 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. WITA. Students from the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) Information Systems Study Program conducted an INFUSION activity entitled “Inspiring Growth through Knowledge and Kindness, United in Warmth and Togetherness,” where the value of “Inspiring Growth Through Knowledge and Kindness” reflects the role of students in the Information Systems Study Program at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology in fostering enthusiasm and hope for others through knowledge and kindness through concrete actions, namely community service. This activity was conducted as part of the final project for the course “Management and Organization.” This activity was carried out by a team consisting of 17 students and 1 lecturer as a supervisor. The entire series of activities was carried out at the Al-Ikhlas Orphanage in Balikpapan. The target or objective of this activity was the children of the Al-Ikhlas orphanage. Additionally, the purpose of this activity was to broaden their knowledge and encourage more focused and healthy gadget usage. The organizing team also conducted a Fun Bound and Creativity activity. This was done to develop the fine motor skills, creativity, and self-expression of the children at the Al-Ikhlas Orphanage by creating individual collages with a technology theme.

This activity was attended by 18 foster children consisting of 8 boys and 10 girls aged 5-17 years. In order for this activity to run smoothly, the implementation team prepared laptops and projectors as a medium to actively present the material and make it clearly understandable during the interactive education session. During the interactive educational session, the organizing team raised the theme of instilling ethics and wisdom in using gadgets. After the interactive educational session was held, it was hoped that the children at the Al-Ikhlas orphanage would understand the importance of maintaining ethics in the digital world and be able to use gadgets wisely for the common good at the orphanage. After the material presentation process was complete, the organizing team took the initiative to provide an opportunity for questions that could increase the knowledge of the children at the Al-Ikhlas Orphanage. At the end of the activity, the organizing team gave small gifts to the children at the orphanage as a token of appreciation. Documentation of this activity can be seen in Figure 1. The expected outcome of this community service activity is for the children at the orphanage to gain a deeper understanding of how to maintain ethics in the digital world and how to use gadgets wisely.
