BALIKPAPAN — The Information Systems Study Program’s Alumni Talk Series returns for its 9th edition, presented as a workshop titled “Is IT Auditing EZ? Let’s Find Out”. This intensive two-day event took place on September 11–12, 2026, in rooms G303 and E202 on the ITK campus. The workshop was conducted interactively to provide practical and comprehensive insights into the world of information systems auditing. The topic covered is also one of the competencies expected of Information Systems graduates, particularly those pursuing a career as an IT Governance Engineer.
This workshop featured alumnus Hendy M. J. Saputra, S.Kom, who works as a Lead Associate IT Auditor/Consultant. He began his presentation with an introduction discussing the challenge that IT audits are not merely about “finding errors or verifying compliance with rules”. Through a mini-audit simulation, participants were guided through all the stages of an actual audit, focusing on the User Management area for the Core Banking System, which covers the Application, Database, and Operating System layers. This mini-audit activity was conducted in accordance with the regulatory framework set forth in SEOJK Regulation No. 21 of 2017 on the Implementation of Risk Management in the Use of Information Technology by Commercial Banks.
Through group work and hands-on case study simulations, participants not only gained an understanding of the theory but also experienced the real dynamics of the IT auditing profession. The event concluded with a wrap-up session and interactive discussion, providing participants with a focused mini-audit experience that will serve as motivation in shaping their career paths after graduating from the Information Systems program.
