The Information Systems Study Program proudly presents 2026 Green Space, a community engagement initiative carrying the theme "Clean and Green for the Future, Growing Through Meaningful Values Together." Held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Dusit Beach, Balikpapan, the event serves as a platform to encourage environmental awareness through collective action. By bringing together students, youth organizations, educational institutions, and the local community, Green Space demonstrates how small actions—such as cleaning coastal areas—can contribute to preserving the environment and creating a healthier, more sustainable future.
This year's Green Space is organized through a collaboration between the Information Systems Study Program and three outstanding partners. The first collaborator is INSPACE (Information Systems Path to Creativity), the annual national-scale flagship event organized by the Information Systems Student Association of Institut Teknologi Kalimantan (ITK). INSPACE promotes creativity, innovation, and technological excellence among young people through various competitions and educational activities, culminating in inspiring talk shows and networking opportunities. The second collaborator is the Regional Executive Board of PEPELINGASIH East Kalimantan (DPD PEPELINGASIH KALTIM), a youth organization operating under the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Indonesia. The organization actively promotes environmental conservation, youth empowerment, and sustainable development by engaging young people in meaningful initiatives such as beach clean-up campaigns, free tree seedling distributions, environmental discussions, nature exploration programs, and youth leadership development activities. The event is also supported by the Sinar Kebaikan Bersama Foundation (Yayasan SKEMA), a social foundation dedicated to improving education and welfare for underprivileged children in the suburban areas of Balikpapan. Through its continuous community service and collaborations with local government, SKEMA has become one of the city's most impactful youth organizations and has received recognition as the First Place Winner in the Outstanding Youth Community category in Balikpapan in 2025. Beginning at 7:30 AM WITA, the event welcomes participants with a registration session followed by opening remarks from distinguished representatives, including the Coordinator of the Information Systems Study Program, representatives from the Department of Tourism, Youth, and Sports (Disparpora), DPD PEPELINGASIH KALTIM, Yayasan SKEMA, and community leaders. Before the beach clean-up activity begins, participants receive an environmental awareness session highlighting the importance of responsible waste management, coastal ecosystem preservation, and the role of communities in protecting natural resources.
Following the educational session, participants work together to clean the coastal area of Dusit Beach. The collaborative activity not only contributes directly to improving the cleanliness of the beach but also strengthens the spirit of volunteerism, teamwork, and environmental responsibility among participants. The event reflects the belief that sustainable environmental change begins with collective commitment and consistent community action.
The event brings together approximately 140 participants, consisting of around 100 registered participants and 40 committee members and invited guests. Participants come from diverse backgrounds, including members of the general public, elementary, junior high, and senior high school students, as well as university students from various higher education institutions. This diversity highlights the inclusive nature of Green Space and reinforces the importance of involving all generations in environmental conservation efforts.
As appreciation for their participation, every attendee receives an electronic certificate (e-certificate). More importantly, participants gain valuable experience in environmental stewardship, community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and social responsibility. Through Green Space 2026, the Information Systems Study Program reaffirms its commitment to creating graduates who not only excel in technology and innovation but also contribute positively to society and sustainable development.
Green Space 2026 stands as a meaningful reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. Through collaboration among academic institutions, youth organizations, social foundations, government representatives, and the wider community, this initiative aspires to inspire lasting environmental awareness and encourage future generations to continue building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Indonesia.
