Samarinda & Nusantara Capital City, October 23rd 2025 — The Information Systems Study Program at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology (ITK) has conducted the 2025 ITK Information Systems Excursion Study (SESI ITK 2025) with the theme “Exploring the Role of Information Sysstems in Driving Industrial Innovation and Technological Advancements.” This activity serves as a field learning opportunity for students to understand the real-world application of information systems in industry and digital government.
The first visit was to the East Kalimantan Provincial Communication and Information Agency (Diskominfo) in Samarinda. The students were welcomed by the Head of Diskominfo East Kalimantan, Muhammad Faisal, who in his speech said that ITK students are expected to become a digital generation that not only understands technology but is also capable of maintaining cyber security amid the accelerating digital transformation. During the session entitled “Cybersecurity in the Era of Digital Transformation,” participants gained in-depth insights into the importance of data security, internet protocols, and the role of local governments in maintaining a secure and sustainable digital ecosystem.
The trip then continued to the Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) in Pemaluan, Sepaku. The group of students was welcomed by Dr. Agung Indrajit, S.T., M.Sc., Deputy for Green and Digital Transformation of the IKN Authority, who explained the direction of the digital transformation policy in IKN as Indonesia's future smart city. In a session led by Tonny Agus Setiono, S.Si.T., M.T., Director of Digital Ecosystem Development, students were introduced to the concept of the Digital Ecosystem at IKN, which includes the development of smart network infrastructure, the development of integrated superapps, and the use of high-specification supercomputers to support large-scale data management and digital public services.
These two visits were valuable experiences for ITK Information Systems students to see firsthand how information systems, cybersecurity, and digital transformation concepts are applied at the provincial and national government levels. This activity is also in line with the objectives of ITK SESI 2025, which are to facilitate students in understanding the strategic role of information systems in industry, foster interest in digital government management, and strengthen collaborative relationships between ITK and partner agencies.
In line with this year's theme, SESI ITK 2025 is expected to be a concrete step for ITK Information System students in preparing themselves to face professional challenges in the ever-evolving digital era.
